A Postdoctoral Associate position is available in the group of Drs. Lipton and Nakamura at the Neurodegeneration New Medicines Center and the Department of Molecular Medicine, The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, California. The successful candidate will join our team to investigate the pathophysiological roles of a posttranslational redox modification known as protein S-nitrosylation in a variety of neurodegenerative diseases. The Postdoctoral Associate will participate in research projects that involve i) a development of biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases and ii) protein misfolding and spreading of pathology in neurodegenerative diseases.
The successful candidate will assist in designing experiments, perform thorough data analyses and interpretation of results, and utilize sophisticated scientific lab techniques, such as confocal microscope and human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) cultures. Knowledge and techniques in molecular biology/biochemistry will be indispensable. Experience in mass spectrometry, bioinformatics, and ELISA is plus. The individual will pursue research projects solely and in collaboration with other lab members. The Postdoctoral Associate will supervise or provide work direction and training to other lab members. The individual will also write-up results for publication and attend scientific meetings to present results.

1) Must possess a doctoral degree. A pending doctoral degree may be considered with approval of the Principal Investigator.
